Bloodborne management. Bloodborne guide: combat basics and advanced tricks. How to kill Vicar Amelia

22.12.2021 Homemade and crafts

Since there is not a lot of news about the game yet, I decided to write general information on the game. It will probably be supplemented.

Management, and everything related to the combat system.

Let's start with management:

It hasn't changed much, except for a few details, and it's possible that this will change for release or it can be rearranged

buttons, but for now it's like this:

L1 - changing the type of weapon in the left hand (which is funny, if you change it during a strike, you can get a new combo strike, a vivid example: When using a sword + hammer (kirkhammer) weapon, you first hit with a hammer, then switch to the sword and character already hits with the handle of the hammer, holding his handle (sword) in his other hand and then inserts it into the hammer again and makes a particularly strong blow. This example can be seen in the TGS trailer of the game.

L2 - Shot from a weapon in the left hand, acts as a parry

R1 - Normal strike with a weapon in the right hand

R2 - Reinforced strike with a weapon in the right hand. If you hold down R2 and L2, you get an even stronger blow, and I want to dwell on this in more detail. R1, however, the backsteb was not removed, but simply changed: To do a backstab, you first need to approach the trays from behind and deliver a super-enhanced blow (hold L2 and R2) and then the enemy will fall to his knees, and you will be able to do a particularly strong attack.

By pressing "forward" and R2, you will perform a jump attack.

I want to say a few words about the kick. I could not do it, but in the official gameplay video I saw how the player did it, thereby breaking through the shield of the enemy.

The up and down hits while climbing stairs remained, only if you spend all the stamina, you will fall.

On the crosspiece, as usual, switching between objects, weapons in the right, left hand, and so on.

The triangle is no longer responsible for the fact that you take a weapon in two hands, now it is responsible for one single function:

Using a blood vial is an item that restores the player's health and is surprisingly quick to use.

It cannot be restored, only obtained from opponents or simply from a drop. In general, an analogue of grass from Demon's souls.

The square is responsible for the use of items.

Circle for rolls, accelerated run, descent, climbing stairs and jump (you need to hold the circle and then release and press again).

The cross is still responsible for interacting with the environment (open the door, pull the lever, pick up a thing).

The right side of the touchpad is responsible for two functions: When you press the left side of the touchpad, a menu of gestures opens (5 pieces).

1-Point forward, 2-Hunting bow, 3-Character shows something with his left hand, 4-Joy, 5-Too pretentious to write something, you need to see it. You can find the video on gestures in the bloodborne videos from the author daratarkor.

Left for messages, as well as multiplayer. There will be two bells, the first is responsible for calling hunters to your world, the second, respectively, for joining other hunters.

Opponents

Most of them are represented in the alpha as infected residents of the city of Yharnam, who, judging by their dialogues:

Cursed beasts!,Away away!,its all your fault! they do not understand that they themselves turn into animals and see these same animals in everyone, as well as hunters.

A striking example: if you look closely at the hand of one of the residents, you can see that it reaches almost to the ground, wrapped in bandages and covered with wool, it looks disgusting.

I also want to note that attention to detail has increased. Now, when the enemy falls, for example, that huge executioner with an ax, not only his carcass rumbles on the ground, but also the ax.

That's all for now. I hope at least someone will be interested in reading this =)

I uploaded examples of parries and backstebs in the video.

Blood is all about combat. make sure you get the most out of it.

Blood Guide: Combat Basics and Advanced Tricks

Bloodborne offers fairly simple controls, but combat can be very challenging. The enemies hit hard and you are very cold-blooded.

Of course, the trick is not to fall. While previous Souls games favored a combination of dodge and shield defense, Bloodborne is all about hitting first by opening holes. Dodge and attack are your best friends here; leave the sword and board at home.

General combat and covert actions

Basic attack controls:

Just like past Souls games, R3 (clicking the right analog stick) is your best friend. It centers the camera, which is handy, but if there are enemies nearby, it will target the closest one, even if you can't see it yourself yet. Blocking is important as manually controlling the camera during combat can be quite tricky - but may be preferable if you find yourself against a group.

R1 is your main attack. R2, stronger hit, best left when you have a handle on things; it's a bit slower and they can be harder to contact.

If you dealt damage, try hitting the enemy; return system will allow you to restore some of the lost health if you are vindictive enough. However, keep in mind that you can leave yourself exposed to deal more damage.

It's important to note that pressing L1 will switch between the two forms of your primary melee weapon, which will change your R1 and R2 attack timeouts and damage. This transformation is an attack in itself and should be chained to a combo at any point.

Backstabbing is a bit more difficult than in the Souls games. To fulfill hit, you need to hit the enemy from behind with charged attack(hold R2). When they collapse, R1 again with very high power Visceral Attack behind, which deals critical damage.

Firearms are activated with L2. If you run out of ammo, you can press the D-pad to sacrifice health to gain some. This can cause your score to go over 20.

Firearms are powerful, but they are not damage dealers; use them to stagger your enemies. If you fire at an enemy while he is reeling in an attack, he will be dazed and you can use R1 to enter Visceral attack front. This method is called Counter Shot and uses less stamina than dodge and strike.

There are two other small methods that the game won't tell you about. First - attack on the jumping. This is hard to do: you need to press forward on the left analog pad at the same time that you press R2 (strong attack). This jumping attack doesn't hit particularly hard, but it can be useful for unexpected enemies and breaks through shields.

Second, dodge and dodge count as part of the combo, so you can chain them together. Try to ride towards the enemy and pressing R1 or L1; you will make a unique attack. Depending on the weapon you are using, this can provide some interesting options, such as diving under the swing to attack the enemy low. You can also do this with backrolls and sidesteps.

There are several ways to dodge. Only touching the circle will cause you to go back. Pressing circle while pressing the left analog stick will take you in that direction.

If you're blocked by an enemy, and press Circle and the analog stick left or right at the same time, you'll perform an exhilaratingly quick bypass instead of a roll. The timing is a bit tricky so practice some low level enemies to nail them down. Depending on what you're facing, this can protect you much more effectively than a roll and put you back in action again for a counterattack.

Remember that Bloodborne is all about aggression and crime; use your dodge and throw to get close to your opponents as well as away from them.

Another couple of unforeseen moves related to terrain and falls:

  • On stairs if you press R1 you will pierce and if you press R2 you will hit him. Humanoid enemies will occasionally follow you up and down stairs, so keep that in mind.
  • If you hit an enemy, you can press R2 to perform a powerful attack. Falling on enemies will generally damage them.

Tactics for crowds and tough opponents

You can carry a dual-wield weapon and two firearms at the same time; switch between them with the D-pad left and right. It's up to you how you want to merge them at any given time.

Each weapon and each form has different combinations; try them out so you know what you need them for. No point in swinging horizontally over the heads of small enemies, right?

Stealth can really help you. Many enemies, especially large groups of Henchmen, have a very limited range. Enemies will attack you from a greater range if you run or swerve; walking can bring you closer.

When a group of enemies is moving away from you, run until one or two turn and run at you, then back to prevent others from being led. Rinse and repeat. You can also use pebbles to aggro a specific enemy or long range long range firearms like the hunter pistol. Properly aimed and executed, both will cause one enemy to move away from the pack towards you, even if they all turn to the noise.

One excellent advanced method is to not use blocking in group battles, but instead aim your attacks manually. It can be harder to hit enemies, but with manual camera controls and the ability to change direction immediately, it can be a lifesaver. Think of it like a doppelgänger shooter where your Hunter is the ship. Watch your ship and move it between projectiles, then attack during openings.

If you run out of Quicksilver bullets, you can press the D-pad to sacrifice health and get five points - it also works if you have a lot and you will get an extra margin of five points at your max. Best of all, if you are then a dashing and melee enemy, you can regenerate that health right away.

Speaking of Rogaine, it continues for a few moments after the enemy dies; while the animation continues (i.e. until they ragdoll), you can keep hacking to gain more health.

You can use items in the middle of a fight, but be wary of the length of the animation; you will be briefly vulnerable. However, you expect to heal on a regular basis, including in combat. if you are facing an enemy that can heal (Hunters, PvP Invasions), try shooting them when they start their animation.

Now two related tips: if you get grabbed by an enemy, you can alternately press L1 and R1 in quick succession to give a quick shake. If you're knocked down (where are you you can take damage, you can roll to recover much faster than the constant animation.

Finally, here are a few of them that accept home messages: The best defense is a good offense. You don't have to take everything you see. Groups of enemies should always be broken up before proceeding where possible. Good luck hunter.

Comparing these two facts, we can conclude that you want to play it, but you are not ready for difficulties. Here's what you need to know so you don't trip over the first boss about 200 times and give it all up. You don't want to regret spending money on Bloodborne, do you? Then read this text.

Whom to play

The main difficulty faced by everyone who has ever launched a role-playing game is the difficult choice between mages, knights, elves and everyone else. If you have not played Dark Souls, then in no case do not choose the Waste of Skin class. The characteristics of this character are at a minimum level, which ultimately allows you to blind such a hero as you want. For the same reason, an extremely difficult start awaits you, because it is very easy to offend such a semi-finished product.

Violent Past is one of the best options for Bloodborne players with no Dark Souls experience.

The early game is dominated by hand-to-hand combat, so it makes sense to take a fighter with the highest scores in one of the three stats: Vitality, Fortitude, and Strength. The first is responsible for the number of health points (never superfluous), the second - for the volume of the green bar of endurance (the longer it is, the more jumps, rolls and hits the hero can perform). Strength also affects the damage that enemies receive from your attacks.

This is the easiest hero to start with. If in the process you want to master some new disciplines, then no one will stop you from investing points in other characteristics. But do not dissipate attention: specialized characters win in Bloodborne, undecided characters are not liked here. Yes, no one here, in general, do not like.

What weapon to take in Bloodborne

At the start of the game, it is proposed to choose from three options: a saw, an ax and a cane. The saw unfolds into a giant straight razor, the hero swings it at medium speed - this is the "canonical" hunter weapon that you saw in the trailers. The ax has good stopping power and thumps loudly on the ground; allows you to easily stop groups of enemies moving in a column. When unfolded, the ax turns into a deadly halberd - not the fastest weapon in the game, but the spinning blow can be useful if you find yourself surrounded.

Saw Cleaver

The cane is the hardest thing to master. It has a fast attack, but deals less damage than an ax and a saw. By unfolding the cane with the L1 button, you will get a chain, almost like in Castlevania. It allows you to control and keep groups of enemies at a distance, but is ineffective in tight passages: the blow goes astray if the chain clings to the wall.

Save resources, especially the Molotov cocktail

At first, you will regularly find healing potions, Molotov cocktail bottles and pots of oil, but this freebie will end as soon as you leave the first location. If everything is clear with medicines, then you get cocktails and oil specifically for the battle with the church monster. Remember: Bloodborne has a lot of wooly enemies, including bosses - and all woolen ones burn perfectly.

How to kill the church monster

The Cleric Beast on the bridge is easy to defeat if you haven't used up all the Molotovs by this point. Although it looks unwieldy, in reality it is a rather nimble creature, and before throwing, you need to take into account the animation of the character throwing the Molotov cocktail. This is best done when the monster is simply walking towards the hero.

Cleric Beast

Please note that when aiming at the church monster (R3), you are given the opportunity to switch from the enemy's torso to the head. This is done for a reason: a successful hit from a pistol in the forehead will hunch the monster - at this moment, you need to quickly get close to hurt him on the head with a standard attack (R1).

Addition from Evgeny Filipenko: how to get help for the battle with the church monster

NOW YOU"RE PLAYING WITH POWER!

If you're having trouble with the first boss, you can call for help...the second boss of this game, Father Gascoigne. To do this, you need to have one insight in order to receive the summoning bell in the Hunter's Dream. You should also talk to Gascoigne's daughter and take the music box from her. After that, return to the lamp in central Yharnam and go to the left, where you will almost immediately see a pale glow, inside which the messengers will advise you to use the summoning bell. Perform this action and Father Gascoigne will appear next to you, which will greatly facilitate the fight with the church monster.

Explore the world more closely

Bloodborne is a kind of metroidvania. Yharnam and its environs are formally open to unlimited hiking adventures, but in fact the entire city is one large level with corridors, rooms, backyards and squares. There are many roads between these locations - both the most obvious and hidden ones. Explore the city to discover more convenient routes from lamps to various destinations. For example, the gate in central Yharnam, to the left of the lamp, can be opened if you go left in the square with the fountain (where the giant is breaking through the door) and break all the boxes. After the battle with the dogs and a couple more giants, go to the left and up the stairs. And on the right you will find an elevator that will take you to Gascoigne - you can start it, however, only from above.

How to Kill Father Gascoigne

The ferocious werewolf Father Gascoigne is difficult to defeat, but there are a few loopholes. First, you need a box. It can be obtained from a girl who complains that her parents are gone. If you go from the first lamp, in central Yharnam, to the right, through the square with a crucified blazing werewolf and a fountain, near which a big guy with a brick is breaking through the gate, then further, after the first climb to the stairs, you need to turn left. If you have already opened the metal gate from the back, then to the left of them you will see a window in which the light is on. Talk to the tenant, get a box and a small task.

The box must be installed in the quick slot ("square" button). When Gascoigne makes an unsuccessful series of blows, take advantage of this and open the box. The sounded melody will introduce the boss into a stupor, which will give you a few seconds to take decisive action.

The box has little to no effect on the second iteration of the enemy: Gascoigne the werewolf grabs his head about one out of ten times. But Molotov cocktails work great on a hairy creature!

Addition from Alexey Chelpanov: how to get a flamethrower

After killing Gascoigne and talking with the old woman in the Cathedral District (who offers to save all the worthy), you need to return to the lantern in central Yharnam, go straight a little and talk to the stranger who is outside the window with the red lantern. He will say that it is not necessary to save him, but in gratitude he will give a flamethrower. You need to approach the stranger in the full set of the Yharnam hunter.

Attention! Lots of spoilers await you below. Of course, we will not allow ourselves to reveal the details of the mysterious plot of Bloodborne. However, if you like surprises, then we recommend that you refer to this guide after encountering difficulties, and not before.

Where to take a woman from central Yharnam

If you go from the lamp in central Yharnam to the left, then turn right in front of the elevator, go up to where the dogs are rattling in the cages, and then cross the bridge, you will find an NPC to the left of the entrance to the dungeon, which you can talk to through the locked door. Focus on the window, the red light of which is visible from afar. The overly grumpy granny on the other side of the door isn't very friendly, but she's asking for a new hideout and needs help.

Coub is based on video YouTube user VaatiVidya

Almost immediately after the murder of Father Gascoigne, you will reach the Cathedral District and find yourself in the Oeden Chapel. Not far from the lamp, right in the room, sits an old woman in a red rag. Talk to her, and she will ask you to inform "everyone who deserves it" about the chapel as a refuge - let them come and escape here from the undead as much as they like. Return to Granny in central Yharnam and tell her about the chapel. The next time you find her sitting on a chair there.

Read and listen to what is being said to you

The history of Bloodborne is shrouded in mystery, and the only way to understand the plot is by paying attention to the little things. Read the descriptions of items in the inventory and shop, listen to the conversations of the Doll, Herman, and especially the survivors who swear at the hunter through locked doors and windows. Sooner or later, these bits of information will come together.

How to kill Vicar Amelia

The giant she-wolf Amelia (Vicar Amelia) at the very top of the Cathedral District attacks close, swinging its paws, and from afar, jumping towards the hunter. Killing her is not difficult - even easier than the church monster, although there are two tricks.

First, when Amelia's health starts to go to zero, and the hunter is seductively close to victory, the she-wolf will begin to regenerate. She gets into a prayer position and very quickly restores a significant part of what you have been delivering her from the last few minutes. Hits don't stop regeneration, so you'll need a flask with Purification Haze. On the way to the boss, you probably found several of these flasks, so there should be no problems with them. Another thing is that no one will warn you in advance about the amazing features of Amelia.

Secondly, fire will help you again. Make sure you don't use up all the "fire paper" that makes the hunting blade burn and deal flame damage. Molotov cocktails and even a torch - everything that burns will go into action.
