General of "polar" hardening
Vorkuta is not a military city. Despite the noticeable number of military establishments and units, miners will forever remain the main ones here. But the Arctic and the Vorkuta garrison, no, no, and yes, they give birth to major military leaders. The most famous of them can rightfully be called Lieutenant General Alexander Valentinovich Golovko, commander of the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces.
Alexander Valentinovich was born in Dnepropetrovsk on December 29, 1964. In 1981-1986. studied in a kind of "military training capital" of the Soviet Union - the city of Kharkov. There were not so many military educational institutions as in Kharkov in any other city of the country. Golovko graduated from one of the most prestigious - Kharkov Higher Military Command and Engineering School of the Strategic Missile Forces named after Marshal of the Soviet Union N.I. Krylov. At that time, through the efforts of the graduates of this university, the unaccustomed unspoken name "KRYAK" was assigned to the school - Kharkov Nuclear and Missile College.
According to the distribution, Lieutenant Golovko ends up in Vorkuta. He was appointed head of the Kama trajectory measurement station. This station is still the oldest in the Vorkuta command and measurement point. In the army, one cannot become a real military leader without going through the school of managing people. Alexander Valentinovich has everything in order with this school. In 1988, he was appointed commander of an operational and technical company. It was not the easiest choice and far from the easiest position. The service of this unit, its entire existence is very characteristic of Vorkuta. The command and personnel of the company were responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of the high-pressure boiler house, electricity and water supply for the entire unit - for everything that is vital in the conditions of a polar city. In this position, Golovko survived both the "Ryzhkov" blizzard and the next blow of the elements, which covered the city in 1991. I am sure that even now General Golovko will easily report on the arrangement of his boiler house, decipher "DKVR" - a fancy name for its boilers.
Anatoly Vasilyevich Yakubovsky, a comrade and, at that time, a subordinate of Golovko, recalled a few years later: “In those years, after graduating from the Mozhaisky Military Institute, I served as the head of the boiler room. Every morning, leaving with Golovko on shift from the city along the northern ring, the first glance, in the direction of the unit, at the boiler room chimney. Smokes - everything is fine - the day will start well. There is no smoke - we are with the company commander (A.V. Golovko) - we risk becoming the main characters of the morning meeting with the commander.
The unit commander at that time was Colonel N.P. Kolesnikov. Fate will bring Alexander Valentinovich directly to his former boss once again in the early 2000s. Becoming the chief of staff of the Main Testing Center A.V. Golovko will again serve under General Kolesnikov. But Alexander Valentinovich will soon bypass his old commander through the ranks.
Alexander Valentinovich served in the operational and technical company for 3 years. After that, he was successively appointed head of the department, department of the ITC and chief of staff of the unit. Here in Vorkuta, Alexander Valentinovich was awarded a rare award. In 1993, he was ahead of schedule awarded the military rank of Major. During the same time, he successfully studies and graduates from the F.E. Dzerzhinsky in Moscow.
The formation of Golovko as a military leader took place at a time of stagnation, in the 90s. The usual norms and traditions of the army, and indeed of the whole society, were collapsing, the country "wandered" in search of its own path of development. Every day I had to solve a lot of questions and problems, the appearance of which a few years ago could not have been imagined. Preservation of the personnel of the unit, the qualitative fulfillment of tasks as intended, the departure of officers on vacation, the monetary allowance of military personnel - all this required the application of significant efforts by the leadership of the military collective. Previously unheard of - difficulties in clothing and food supply for soldiers and officers - a heavy burden fell on the shoulders of the commanders. Veterans of the unit recall that, for example, in 1998, the unit was paid three times (!) - in May, September and November. And in May it was not money for the previous five months, they just repaid a debt for some of the months of 1997.
In 1998, the 12-year, “Vorkuta” period of his biography ended. For so long, Alexander Valentinovich did not stay at any of the many places of his service. Lieutenant Colonel A.V. Golovko was appointed commander of the command and measurement post in Ulan-Ude, in Transbaikalia. This is one of the oldest command and measurement stations, whose combat crews in 1957 launched the first artificial Earth satellite into orbit, and in April 1961 received messages from the first cosmonaut of the planet.
In 2001, Colonel Golovko entered the main educational institution of the army - the Military Academy of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces.
From 2004 to 2007 Alexander Valentinovich - Chief of Staff of the Main Test Center for Testing and Control of Space Facilities named after G.S. Titov. For more than half a century, the Main Center has been the only military and scientific and technical formation in the country that performs the tasks of direct control of the country's orbital grouping.
In 2007-2011 he becomes head of the Main Testing Center. At this time, the process of increasing the orbital constellation is taking place, the domestic Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) is finally deployed and begins to operate in full force. The process of renewing the armed forces and giving them a new look is entering an acute phase. During these years, Alexander Valentinovich twice visited Vorkuta, in his first military unit. His second visit was especially memorable when, on September 13, 2009, he presented the military banner of a new model to the personnel of the unit. A strong friendship binds Alexander Valentinovich with the President of the cities of the Arctic and the Far North I.L. Shpektor, veterans of the city. Among them there are still those who began serving with him as lieutenants in the mid-80s.
In June 2011, there was a major change in the service of General Golovko. He was appointed head of the Plesetsk State Test Cosmodrome. Twenty-five years before, while controlling launch vehicles, now Alexander Valentinovich himself had to take part in the implementation of the direct launch of launch vehicles. One should have seen with what excitement he reported to the President of the country about the successful launch of his first, in the role of head of the cosmodrome, rocket.
December 24, 2012 by decree of the President of the Russian Federation A.V. Golovko was appointed commander of the Aerospace Defense Forces of the Russian Federation. He became the first commander of the newly created new branch of the Russian armed forces. The most important achievement of his two-year leadership of the aerospace defense forces can be called the successful launch in December 2014 of the latest Angara missile. This is the first of the launch vehicles created over the past 25 years, the first fully domestic space development. It is the Angara, with the modular principles incorporated in its design, that should become the basis for the development of domestic cosmonautics in the future.
The last time Alexander Valentinovich visited Vorkuta was in February 2014. His arrival was connected with preparations for the start of construction and deployment in the Arctic of a new military unit of the Aerospace Defense Forces in the village of Vorgashor. The fulfillment of this state defense task, we are sure, will bring General Golovko to his native polar city more than once.

Colonel-General Surovikin, appointed to this position on November 22, 2017, is in no hurry to change into a blue uniform - judging by recent
His place at the boards and meetings in Moscow is occupied by General Dronov. Therefore, personally remained:
If the problems of reforming the Aerospace Forces required the appointment of a land general, then why is he marinated?
If the military-political situation in the SAR requires the long-term presence of a specific Severe General, then why appoint him in absentia as the chief "in air and space"?
In the meantime, I believe, the Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces is in anxious expectation.
The deputy commanders-in-chief of the VKS are anxiously waiting:

The most unexplored environment by Yandex is at the position deputy commander for armaments. I don’t even know if such a position has been preserved? The Internet with grief in half found us two people:person who looks likeColonel Medvedkov A.N., and a person who looks likeColonel Miruk K.V.Both come from the Air Force weapons structures; but what if the new commander-in-chief wants to see an engineer of armored vehicles in this position? :)
