Aquarium floria istanbul how to get. Aquarium in Istanbul! Where is the complex located and how to get to it

11.02.2022 Joinery

Greetings, dear readers! Today we will go to the amazing sea kingdom, which I have long wanted to see with my own eyes, and now I will share my truthful review. Aquarium in Istanbul Florya(Istanbul Akvaryum Florya) I advise everyone who loves tailed, mustachioed and multi-colored inhabitants of the depths to visit, however, a huge object will be of interest to lovers of other animals, but first things first.

Our trip to the aquarium of Istanbul began with a curious incident, in general, as usual :) . In the afternoon, after visiting the fish market, we headed to the Istanbul Aquarium, or rather we took a taxi. We did not find exact information on how to get to the desired object from point “A” on the Internet.

We said to the taxi driver: "Istanbul Akvaryum" and they took us .... I knew for sure that it was necessary to go 9-10 km to point “B”, well, who knew that there are TWO aquariums in Istanbul! :) Here is the first "rake" for you, Before the trip, study thoroughly the route.

Enterprising taxi drivers are in no way inferior to their countrymen! Far from being a fool, he got caught, so he took us NOT to the nearest aquarium, but out of town. It was Sunday and of course, according to the laws of the genre, we got into a huge traffic jam. I will not voice everything that my friends said (an untranslatable pun), but we got to the Istanbul Aquarium after about 1.5 hours, paying the meter ...... :) The mood was pretty spoiled, but the goal was achieved! It was getting dark…..

There are two aquariums in Istanbul - Florya and Turkuazoo. I marked on the map their location and distance from each other.

Very often on the Internet you can find information that can completely confuse tourists. Without going into much detail, many resources copy information from each other without checking it, thereby misleading readers. So it happened with the aquariums in Istanbul, completely different aquariums are designated at the same address.

Let me remind you that we are going to the Florya district of Istanbul, which is located on the coast of the Sea of Marmara. The Istanbul Aquarium was built in 2011, is located outside the city near the Ataturk International Airport and is one of the largest aquariums in the world.

Istanbul Aquarium meets all international standards and is equipped with the latest technology. The living conditions of the inhabitants of the sea are as close as possible to their habitat.

According to the brochure given at the entrance to the aquarium, the two-story complex consists of 18 themed areas, including a rainforest area. The total number of land and sea inhabitants of the Istanbul Aquarium is 15,000.

On the territory of the aquarium there are two 5D cinemas (fog, wind and water effects), a cafe, a restaurant, souvenir shops.

Under the same roof with an aquarium is a large shopping complex.

And here is the main entrance to the Istanbul Aquarium. Signs prohibiting photography and video shooting are hanging everywhere, but few people adhere to the ban, they shoot both on cameras and on mobile devices.

Unfortunately, there was no luck with photography, due to the large number of tourists, it is better to come to the aquarium in the morning.

There are separate pools where jellyfish swim,

sea stars and other invertebrates.

Aquarium in Istanbul is very large, between the themed halls there are several cafes and one restaurant where you can taste something from Turkish dishes.

Dome aquariums with optical glass look very nice.

There is an underwater tunnel in the Istanbul Aquarium, but it is quite small, in another aquarium - Turkuaz, the tunnel is 80 meters long.

In the thematic aquarium, the whole complex is divided into zones where marine life from different parts of the world is represented: the Black Sea, the Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara, the Dardanelles, the Red Sea, the Suez Canal, Antarctica, Gibraltar, the Panama Canal, the Amazon forests, etc.

There is a model of a submarine, entering which you will see through the windows the diverse underwater world of the Istanbul Aquarium.

The largest number of visitors gather near the huge aquarium with predatory fish.

Especially realistic is the huge hall with the Amazon rainforest - Amazon Rainforest. High humidity, hot air, giant trees and shrubs, waterfalls, all this will take you from the Istanbul Aquarium to the very wilds of the tropics. It is home to carnivorous piranhas, poisonous frogs, crocodile caimans, yellow-bellied boas and the world's largest rodent, the capybara. An amazing sight!

And finally, a photo with a piranha ... oh, with piranhas. We spent only a couple of hours in the Istanbul Aquarium, which is very little for a complex of this magnitude.

At the very beginning of our tour, at the entrance we were nailed to a green wall and asked to smile, it was not painful and for free, and when we left the aquarium, they so unobtrusively offered a photo for memory with any of the four proposed backgrounds for $ 10. Well, where to go, I had to take it! :)

When we left the aquarium, it was completely dark and deserted. At the beginning of my story, I mentioned that we arrived by taxi, somehow we didn’t really want to return to the city in the same way, the amount came out very ugly ... We went to look for a ghostly stop. We found only a bus, but no one wanted to take us without tickets :).

My friends were repeating inarticulate inarticulate phrases that were difficult to pronounce about Istanbul, its inhabitants and the marine inhabitants of the aquarium, and it all amused me a lot! :) After an unsuccessful search, we still took a taxi, well, not on foot to return.

You will learn about everything that we saw in Istanbul in February in the article.

A huge minus of the Istanbul Aquarium is the lack of direct public transport flights. Direct transfers can only be reached by your own car or taxi.

I offer you my short video from the aquarium of Istanbul, by the way, if you need licensed music to create a video, use the list in the video manager on the youtube channel.

Discussion: Aquarium Florya (Florya) in Istanbul

There is a lot of entertainment in Istanbul. Each of them will not make anyone bored. Unfortunately, in order to enjoy a good rest, it will take at least 2 weeks, since the list of pastimes can take up the whole. Istanbul has entertainment complexes where both children and adults will find solace:

  • Dolphinarium,
  • Jurassic Park,
  • Bayramoglu - Zoo,
  • as well as the Ice Museum and many other entertainment complexes that operate both during the day and at night.

Floria Aquarium in Istanbul

Istanbul's main aquarium is an entertainment complex located on the banks of the Marmara. It was erected in 2011 and since that time has become a fierce competitor to European and American aquariums. This is due to the fact that it meets all international standards, including the latest technical means by which marine life is cared for.

If you decide to visit the Istanbul aquarium, then remember that the total number of sea and land inhabitants is more than 15,000, which is already impressive. However, the complex is famous not only for the presence of an aquarium. Istanbul Aquarium Floria- this is also:

  • 5D cinemas,
  • and cafe
  • and restaurants
  • and souvenir shops
  • and unique architecture
  • and a large shopping complex that will appeal to both kids and adults.

Florya Aquarium in Istanbul occupies about 22 thousand square meters. m. At the same time, the volume of water is at least 6800 cubic meters. This once again confirms the grace and scale of the object. If the space for marine life is 6800 square meters, then only 6000 are allocated for visitors. However, this space is sometimes not enough, as visitors from all over the planet come here.

As for the species diversity of aquarium animals, among them deserve the most attention from visitors:

It is worth noting that all conditions have been created in the legendary aquarium so that everyone can see the life of the underwater ones from the inside. Istanbul Aquarium Florya is considered a "smart building project". Near each water tank there is an electronically controlled scoreboard. It is through this board that you can get absolutely any information of interest regarding the inhabitants of the artificial seabed.

If you get tired of walking, then you can relax on almost every corner of the complex:

  • Cafe Coffee Corner,

  • Robert's Cafe Sutis,
  • Juice Planet & Girandola Ice-cream is a direct confirmation of this!

Moreover, in the cafe you can not only enjoy thematic dishes and dishes of European cuisine, but also read interesting informational brochures about the inhabitants of the aquarium.

Among other things, the Istanbul Aquarium is ready to please tourists with an amazing tropical forest and an abundance of viewing platforms, each of which offers a view of predators and mammals.

Why is Floria Aquarium famous in Istanbul?

If you decide to visit Aquarium Floria, then know that it consists of absolutely all thematic zones that are inherent in Oceania. Thus, it will turn out to make a small mini-journey, starting from the Black Sea, the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus, ending with the Gibraltar, Red and Mediterranean Seas.

The oceanarium is famous not only for its variety of thematic zones, but also for its numerous halls, among which submarine, forest and coral halls are far from last. All these zones are made exclusively in a tropical style, which will appeal not only to children, but also to adults.

What, after all, is the aquarium famous for, and what attracts thousands of tourists here? This list is endless. Therefore, we will only characterize some benefits:

  • So, the first advantage that the water park has is the opportunity to get to know the marine life better: to see how the inhabitants of the depths are fed, to trace and identify the behavior of each individual in the natural environment.
  • The second advantage that people from all over the world come here for is that it is here that they have the opportunity to take amazing photographs. Moreover, unique photos can be taken both independently and with the help of professional photographers who work on the territory of the institution.
  • Exact copies of models of sea channels, as well as an exact reconstruction of the oldest boat in the world, is another mystery that true connoisseurs of the unknown want to solve.
  • Those who have never seen corals have a unique opportunity not only to enjoy their beauty and uniqueness, but also to follow the process of artificial cultivation of the latter.
  • If the price in the aquarium of Istanbul seems low to you, then remember that a number of other services are provided here, for which you pay separately. So, for example, each visitor has the right to order the service "Diving in a tank with sharks". Appreciate and love thrills? Then swimming with sharks is exactly what you need!
  • The Amazonian forest is an undoubted advantage of the aquarium. This is due to the fact that exclusive inhabitants are concentrated here, such as: piranhas, caimans, boas, agi (poisonous toads) and a number of other unfriendly, but cute representatives of the fauna.
  • Have you arrived at the complex with children who like to explore everything on their own? Fortunately, there is a way out! Embark on a real submarine where it is allowed to do so.

Where is the complex located and how to get to it

Floria aquarium address: Aqua Florya Alisveris ve Yasam Merkezi Şenlikköy Mah., Yeşilköy Halkalı Cad. No:93, 34153 Bakırköy/İstanbul, Turkey

How to get to Istanbul Aquarium is the most common question among travelers. However, few people know that this issue is far from the most important, due to the small distance of the complex from the city airport. In a word, you can get to the aquarium center by any available transport, such as:

  • by taxi,
  • personal transport,
  • train,
  • city bus.

Of course, a taxi ride is an expensive option. This is understandable, because billing is done according to the meter, and the distance is not small. Thousands of tourists arriving here from different parts of the world prefer to get to their destination by train. The whole trip is only 35 minutes, and the cost of funds, at the same time, will not upset even the most demanding and biased tourist. The only drawback is that upon arrival at the station square you will need to walk about 15 minutes (in the opposite direction).

For those who experience difficulties, they can easily correct the situation on their own. To do this, you just need to contact the call center of the complex and find out detailed information. There is another option: go to the official website (www.istanbulakvaryum.com), where an experienced Russian-speaking online consultant will answer all your questions.

Ticket price

As for the cost of tickets, it varies somewhat, which is associated with the preferences of visitors. Price fluctuations can range from 19 to 100 Turkish Lira. The prices on the official website are as follows:

Rules for visiting the aquarium

Allowed on site:

  • stroking stingrays,
  • take pictures with your own camera
  • stay in any zone for an unlimited amount of time.

It is not necessary to take warm clothes, as the complex is equipped with a temperature control system. Near reservoirs with predators, you should not touch the water with your hands (with the open content of fauna). Another rule is a strict ban on self-feeding of marine life.

Go to the underwater world of mysteries and magic, as millions of people have already done, and you will definitely be satisfied!!!

Much has been written about Istanbul. A lot has been written about the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Top Kapi, Taksim and Istiklal, about the top tourist spots.

But here's a rainy day in January, what to do?

We decided to go to one non-standard, but interesting place - the Aquarium (as the Turks call it). In Russian - oceanarium.

And I want to tell you a little about it, in case you also find yourself there and want to visit.

Aquarium in Istanbul Florya(Istanbul Akvaryum Florya)

There are a lot of ways to get to it, I read about them before the trip. But it was raining and we took a taxi. Drive from Sirkeci station for about 40 minutes. Not close. It will cost about 50-70 lire.

But be careful. There are two Akvraiums in Istanbul. Say the name or show it on paper to the driver, because. English is not known to everyone. I would say rare who knows in a taxi. Taxi, again, in my opinion, it is better to call from the hotel to avoid excesses. So, say the name, because. on the Internet, I read stories about how cunning taxi drivers took people to an unnecessary, but more distant park. Although, again, if we were brought to another oceanarium, I think I would not be upset and would have looked at it.

Istanbul Aquarium occupies 23 thousand square meters, parking on their territory is designed for 1200 places. 64 huge tanks hold 6800 cubic meters of water. The aquarium has become home to 15 thousand different inhabitants of land and water (more than 1500 different species). The route takes 1.2 kilometers, passes through 16 regions - from the Black Sea to the Pacific Ocean.
Also in the complex you can take a fascinating walk through the tropical forest. The complex has two 5D cinemas; each room can accommodate 15 people. Anyone can feel themselves in the thick of things. Effects such as fog, wind, rain, or rocking chairs enhance this feeling.

Interactive starts right at the entrance. This is an interactive map of the world, where the audio guide tells you about the upcoming excursion. You are also interested in multi-colored in different rooms

Time flies absolutely unnoticed and exciting

At the entrance, we took an audio guide for 3 lira, which told us everything about the fish. etc. And we didn’t just walk around and thought what kind of ice was in the middle of the room, but with a smart vision)))

In the middle of the hall there is a model of Noah's ark, in which you can also walk around, look and feel. Children are very interested!

There is a computer next to each pool where you can find out more information about the fish or the sea.

Although there are signs everywhere asking you not to stick your hands into the waters to the fishes, people still put their hands in!

right along the way, a piece of the grand bazaar with its color is built.

To be honest, this pool attracted and fascinated me for a long time.

At first it seemed small, but then we realized that it goes much deeper. Near it there are special soft steps where you can sit and watch the life of the inhabitants. I miss such a place at home, where you can come for half an hour, look at calm fish and bounce back after hard shooting

a lot of small portholes with jellyfish and all sorts of fish I have never seen

many themed rooms, for example, dedicated to Troy

From one hall, the aquarium opens into a glass corridor, where an unexpected and gorgeous view of the Marmara sea opens up.

from it you go to the cafe area where you can eat. But we didn't stop there.

Hall dedicated to the construction of the Suet Canal

Several crossings with pipes through which you go.

As well as portholes, which you can enter and see how the fish look up through the water column.

Here is this view

And this room shocked me too. In the middle is a piece of ice.

It can be touched. It even has holes in it by hand

The hall is dedicated to Antarctica, as well as what will happen if the ice melts.

Some kind of insanely beautiful room. I don't know what already

The area of sunken ships. Really scary. There are some sounds, rattles, something in the boxes beats out, light, darkness .... In general, it's impressive

as well as the hall of Captain Nemo's ship

And the mysterious hall of the tropical jungle. It really drips from the descendants, very humid and very strange

and at the end he sits here. big beaver or nutria. do not know. But you can't touch it!

At the exit you will find a huge souvenir shop.

And also, at the entrance, everyone is filmed on a green chromakey, like for free. At the end, you are offered a photoshop from this photo, with a fish background substituted for your taste. We decided and bought this photo as a keepsake.

Frankly, we have seen a lot of oceanariums, and I can’t say that they personally delight me wildly. But here I can safely say that I would return to this one more than once!

Description

The territory of the aquarium is 22 thousand square meters, the volume of water in the tanks is 6,800 cubic meters, which indicates the scale of this project. A separate vast area (about 6,000 sq.m.) is provided for guests, more than 15,000 terrestrial and marine inhabitants are represented. Among the most famous are: sea arapaima, tetraodon (ball fish), spotted garden eel, amphiprion (clown fish), lemon shark, moraines, rays, etc.

In the aquarium you will have a unique opportunity to look at their life "from the inside", as the necessary conditions for natural habitat have been created for this. The presence of tanks of various shapes (dome, cone-shaped, square) allows you to create the illusion of a seascape.

Near each water container there is a convenient electronic display, thanks to which you can easily find the information you are interested in. The Istanbul Aquarium staff made every effort to make guests feel comfortable: several cafes and restaurants (Coffee Corner, FunFondü, Juice Planet & Girandola Ice-cream, Robert's Cafe Sütiş), comfortable viewing platforms, a gift shop, two 5D cinemas and even real tropical forest. A particular advantage is availability of an elevator and special paths for persons with disabilities. There is also the Turkuazoo Aquarium in Istanbul, you will find information.

The first thing that strikes visitors is themed aquarium design. You can make a mini-journey, starting from the Black Sea and ending with the Mediterranean. Among the thematic zones, the following are distinguished: the Black Sea, the Dardanelles, the Bosphorus, the Aegean Sea, Gibraltar, the Sea of Marmara, the Suez Canal, the Red Sea, Antarctica, the Mediterranean Sea, the Panama Canal, the Eastern, Western Central and Atlantic, as well as the Pacific Ocean. Separately, it is worth noting four more halls: a submarine, a cave (stalactites, stalagmites), a coral and a forest zone, decorated in the style of the tropics.
